Hollywood is powerful. It controls what it wants the public to see. Hollywood can influence society’s way of thinking. Actors and actresses are committing brutal crimes, lying, using profanity, using drugs and alcohol, and engaging in sexual acts on the big screen. Hollywood's example causes the public (especially young people) to gain the impression that it is acceptable to swear, steal, use drugs, and engage in sexual activity before marriage. Promoting homosexuality, showing lack of respect to people of authority (such as parents), and depicting women in a degrading manner are common messages conveyed in films. Movies with inappropriate content are giving a bad message to America’s children and adults.
America’s movies are shown around world. Foreign countries watch American-made movies and see the actors and actresses behave inappropriately in films. Therefore, many believe that Americans resemble the movie stars that they see in the movies! Not everyone in America swears, steals, murders, and has premarital sex! The image of the average American citizen has been soiled by the entertainment industry. It is essential that Hollywood provide cleaner films to improve our nation’s image!
Movies are important in America’s entertainment culture. Since the beginning of silent film production, people have attended movies as a recreational activity. For many years, going to the theater to see a movie was a family event. Musicals enlightened audiences. Clean, fun comedies were entertaining. Dramas grasped the attention of movie-goers. All genres of people were entertained by the movies.  Horrific violence, obscene language, nudity, and sexually explicit behavior were never seen on the big screen.
More people would attend movies more often if film’s had cleaner content. Movies such as Amazing Grace, Facing the Giants, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Pride and Prejudice, and Nancy Drew succeed without the use of vulgarity! America is ready for morals! Movies with an attention grabbing plot and great acting do not require obscenities. Movies with a high quality plot and impressive acting do well at the box office. Over half of the top grossing 2004 movies were either animated cartoons or films geared toward families. Quality movies such as The Passion of the Christ and The Incredibles averaged a colossal 106.8 millions dollars at the box office!  However, movies that contained strong sexual content earned less than 6.3 million dollars. Films emphasizing homosexuality averaged about 1.2 million dollars. Motion pictures with a potent anit-Christian worldview earned a mere 11.5 million dollars. Studios lost money from distasteful films! However, during the past three years, Hollywood earned four to seven times as much money for moral movies compared to strongly immoral films. Clearly, there is an enormous audience in this world waiting for more great movies with cleaner content!.
Producers and investors are blind to the fact that moral movies make money. Hollywood refuses to acknowledge clean movies monetary success. In 2004, the Academy Awards snubbed some of the most quality and popular films. The Passion of the Christ, The Incredibles, Spider Man 2,  Collateral, and Schrek 2 were among films ignored by the Academy Awards. Together, those movies grossed 1.4 billion dollars! Shockingly not one of them was nominated for a top award. Unsuccessful box office movies such the pro-euthanasia Million Dollar Baby and morally abhorrent Sideways were glorified at the Academy Awards. Clearly, action must be enforced to reform Hollywood!
